Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs faced a 28-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 9 on Sunday. With the loss against Buffalo, the Chiefs fell to a 5-4 record.
On Monday, analyst Bill Simmons discussed the Chiefs' rather disappointing start to the season, while proclaiming Tom Brady as the best QB in the history of the NFL.
"The Patriots with Tom Brady as the starter only started 5-4 twice," Simmons said on his podcast. "In 2001 and 2002. In 2001, he didn't even start the first three games. In 2002, they finished 9-7. ... So, everybody can take a big heaping sip of settle-down juice in the GOAT discussion.
"Tom Brady is, we're still good. Win a few more Super Bowls and maybe don't start the season 5-4 and we can throw you in the GOAT convo."
Brady, who retired from the sport in February 2023, played in 10 Super Bowls and won seven Super Bowl rings, the most of any in NFL history. The former QB won six with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
On the other hand, Mahomes has already played in five Super Bowls and won three of them. He is in his ninth season with the Chiefs.
Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs to lock horns with Denver Broncos in Week 11
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will have a BYE in Week 10. However, the Kansas City Chiefs will return to action in Week 11 when the side travels to face the Denver Broncos on November 16.
The Broncos are one of the best sides in the league this season and are on a six-game win streak. Denver will play its Week 10 game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night, before hosting the Chiefs.
Mahomes has registered 2,349 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, five interceptions and four rushing TDs this season. The Chiefs still have their playoff hopes in their own hands, but will need to amass a few wins after their BYE Week to qualify for the postseason.
