George Pickens makes honest admission on beef with Mike Tomlin's team

George Pickens has cleared the rumors about having an alleged beef with Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin. As per a tweet by Blitzburgh, the wide receiver had no hard feelings for his former team and coach.

Pickens also talked about his exit from the team and his decision to join the Dallas Cowboys this season.

"I honestly don't have a bad word to say about Pittsburgh," Pickens said. "I can call up Coach (Tomlin) right now and we'd have a good conversation. What I really respect about Coach is that he was telling me the whole time, 'Just keep being you, George.'

"There was no beef. It just wasn't really a fit long-term. When I knew they were bringing in DK (Metcalf) with the two tight end offense, I thought, 'Cool, Perfect for y'all. Let me get up out of here and get you a pick.' And that's how it went down. They did right by me, in the end. We were talking the whole time, and they sent me to the perfect spot in Dallas."

The Steelers drafted George Pickens with the 52nd overall pick in the 2022 NFL pick. Last year, he was fined by the league for his touchdown celebration against the Cincinnati Bengals, Mike Tomlin said that the wide receiver had to "grow up" and show sportsmanship on the field.

In his three season stint with the Steelers, George Pickens registered 2,841 yards and 12 TDs receiving. In May, they traded him to the Cowboys for a 2026 third-rounder and a 2027 fifth rounder. Pickens has been a pivotal figure on Brian Schottenheimer's offense, tallying 908 yards and seven touchdowns receiving in 10 games.

Retired Cowboys star requests George Pickens to take pay cut to stay in Dallas

George Pickens is in the mid of the final year of his four-year rookie contract. Following his performance in the Cowboys' 33-16 win over the Raiders last week, Dez Bryant had a message for the wide receiver.

In a tweet on X, the retired three-time Pro Bowler urged Pickens to take a pay cut when negotiating his new contract with the Cowboys. He thinks that the WR has the capacity to become a legend in Dallas.

"George Pickens... I want you to understand that whenever it's time to negotiate your new contract... your legacy will be worth more than being the highest paid wide receiver... if you stayed with the Cowboys. There's a lot more to the thought procss, but think about it.

"You have to be the best at what's current. I've watched great teams and been a part of great teams the Cowboys have had over the years. Also, you have to keep the roster young and hungry... I played with guys who were past their due date and didn't love the game. Respectfully."

The Cowboys will lock horns with the Eagles (5-5) on Sunday at 4:25 pm ET.
