Champions League nights always bring something unexpected, as today Sporting Lisbon forged one of the most remarkable comebacks in the history of football, at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

The Portuguese club overturned a three-goal first-leg deficit to clinch a 5-0 win over Bodo Glimt following extra time and reach 5-3 on aggregate to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

Fantastic first half

The Lisbon crowd backed their team with full energy, as Goncalo Inacio managed to score the first goal in the 34th minute with a great corner from Francisco Trincao. The Portuguese club dominated the rival with securing majority of the ball possession.

Drama in second half

The comeback took its true form after the game reached the hour mark, as Pedro Gancalves scored the second goal with a great finish into the bottom corner.

In the 78th minute, Sporting CP was awarded a penalty because of a handball, which was converted by Luis Suarez to secure a 3-3 aggregate score.

Pure dominance in extra time

After losing the three-goal lead, Bodo Glimit looked completely clueless. In the first two minutes of the first half of the extra time, Maxi Araujo gave Sporting a lead for the first time in the tie.

In the last minutes of the game, Rafael Nel scored a brilliant tap-in to score the fifth goal, securing a dominating 5-0 win and a spot in the quarterfinals.
