Story Highlights:

Kelce admitted he “worded it poorly” while stressing he still loves Brown as a teammate and believes trading him would be a major mistake.

The former center said Brown’s visible frustration at times impacts his own play and the Eagles’ offense—but emphasized that coaches and teammates continue to support him.

Jason Kelce addressed the hate he is getting for his comments saying that A.J. Brown's frustration last season affected his gameplay. The former Philadelphia Eagles center shared his opinion about the wide receiver on Thursday on the "WIP Morning Show."

Jason Kelce reacts to harsh criticism from fans

Kelce justified that his intention while analyzing the 2025 Eagles' team was never to underestimate Brown's potential but to offer perspective on normal team dynamics. It was not the first instance analysts had said that on the show, but it came back with harsh criticism from fans this time.

“It seems people are taking this as a dig on A.J. Brown, which wasn’t really the intent of the response,” Kelce wrote. “It was apparent that A.J. was frustrated, and it’s apparent that A.J. lets that affect his play at times. That’s frustrating to watch as fans and people on the outside.

“But it’s more important that his teammates and coaches for all of this external frustration still love and only say positive things about A.J. That probably means that his teammates understand where he’s coming from, and that’s what really matters.

“If there was an issue with it, teammates would be saying different things publicly. That was the point I was attempting to say. That was the purpose of this response, and I worded it poorly. I love A.J. Brown, I loved him as a teammate and I think if he ends up getting traded, the Eagles and fans will end up regretting it majorly.”

The whole controversy started when AJ Brown publicly expressed his frustrations about his usage and the team's struggles in the offense. Jason Kelce, in his commentary, has always talked about his understanding of Brown's frustration about being more involved in the offense, but outlined how it sabotages the team.

Kelce's remarks on A.J. Brown's frustration

Jason Kelce gave his honest opinion on how A.J Brown led his frustration affect his gameplay, thereby leading to the Eagles' offensive struggles. His broader message was about keeping things in mind and understanding what frustration can do to a locker room.

“So I think there's got to be a reason that A.J. is well-liked in the building by coaches and players,” Kelce said. “He's well respected. I think part of it is that he's a great player and you know teammates want him there and know that he can be a dominating force for them.

“But those frustrations. He's just the unfortunate player who allows his internal frustrations to manifest into his play, and it makes him play worse. It makes the offense worse, and it makes his energy worse. And some guys can block that out and go out there and just play football. He is clearly not one of those guys.”

Despite Jason Kelce's intention to give a balanced opinion on the situation with the Eagles, some critics have accused him of undermining A.J. Brown's impact, creating a narrative about the Eagles' fractured offense.
