Story Highlights:

LeSean McCoy reacted to the decision, saying Murray hasn’t been playing the quarterback position efficiently this season.

Brissett now gets a chance to reclaim a full-time starting role as Murray focuses on recovery.

The Arizona Cardinals are benching Kyler Murray for Jacoby Brissett. The Cardinals' head coach, Jonathan Gannon, said that Brissett will start their Week 10 clash against the Seattle Seahawks.

NFL analyst LeSean McCoy gave his reaction on the news. The two-time Super Bowl winner wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter),

"No surprise …Kyler doesn’t kno how to play the Quarterback position efficiently."

McCoy is not surprised by the announcement, as Murray looked out of touch for most of the 2025 season. The former No.1 overall pick has registered a stat line of 962 passing yards, six passing touchdowns, and three interceptions in five games.

Golden chance for Jacoby Brissett

The Cardinals have now handed the responsibilities to Jacoby Brissett. Brissett has represented six teams in the past six seasons. This might be his golden chance to grab a starting role for the first time since his Indianapolis Colts days.

Kyler Murray to spend some time on the sidelines

Kyler Murray last played for the Cardinals in their Week 5 clash against the Tennessee Titans. Murray has been sidelined with a mid-foot sprain for what will soon be a month, and his path to the Gridiron is uncertain.

As per Tom Pelissero, Murray will not go through the surgery. The NFL insider said,

"Surgery is not under consideration for Cardinals QB Kyler Murray, per source. But Murray risks a setback if he plays before his foot injury is fully healed, which can take 4 to 8 weeks. He’s still not moving normally and Arizona is sticking with Jacoby Brissett for now."

The Cardinals picking Jacoby Brissett as their starting quarterback will need allow some time for Murray to get fit from the injury. He could be available for the business end of the season, but that'll hugely depend on the treatment and Brissett's form.

Recently, Brissett has given impressive performance, putting up 27 points in back-to-back games and leading the team to an amazing victory against Dallas Cowboys. He will not look to guide the Cardinals to playoffs as their long-time starting quarterback recovers from injury.
