According to Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz, the Seattle Seahawks have granted safety Rayshawn Jenkins permission to look for a trade this offseason.

Jenkins, 31, is only under contract with the Seahawks until the 2025 season and will have a $7.9 million cap cost. Trading or releasing him would result in a $2.5 million dead cap charge.

The veteran safety played in 13 games in 2024, recording 53 tackles (two for loss), two sacks, and a fumble recovery for a 102-yard score. He spent four games on injured reserve due to a hand injury.

Jenkins has 517 tackles, 10 interceptions, 5.5 sacks, and a pair of defensive touchdowns across an eight-year career that includes appearances with the Los Angeles Chargers (2017-20), Jacksonville Jaguars (2021-23), and the Seahawks this season.

It is unclear whether Jenkins has a significant trade market. Teams may simply wait out the Seahawks, expecting they will release him after Coby Bryant replaced him last season. Seattle will most certainly aim to save $5.4 million against the cap by moving on from Jenkins, whether by trade or release.

Some quality safeties could be available in free agency, including Jevon Holland, Tre'von Moehrig, Justin Reid, Talanoa Hufanga, Camryn Bynum, Jeremy Chinn, Justin Simmons, Julian Blackmon, and Mike Hilton. This might further limit Jenkins' trade market, as safety-needy teams opt to free agency first to address the position without foregoing draft compensation.
