Story Highlights:

Kelce revealed he is closer to weighing retirement than he was a year ago after Kansas City’s shortened season.

The star tight end is nearing the end of his contract, putting his long-term future with the Chiefs in doubt.

Travis Kelce finds himself in a similar situation. In February 2025, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end was the subject of rumors, speculations and questions regarding what took place after the season. With the season finishing a month early for the franchise, those questions are back again at the top once again.

Kelce was questioned regarding his intentions for when and how he could decide his future in a clip shared on X on Sunday by Kansas City Star Columnist Sam McDowell.

"Either it hits me quick or I gotta take some time," Kelce said. "Last year was a little bit easier. I knew right away I wanted to kind of give this one a shot so I don't know. We'll see."

Kelce's statement discloses that the tight end was relatively closer to leaning toward retirement this season than last year. Of course, reaching the Super Bowl versus packing it up after a losing year are two very two different situations. It will be up to Kelce to decide where wants to play for one more season.

Chiefs' interest on Travis Kelce

As per Spotrac, without any active effort to make a plan for 2026, Travis Kelce's time with the Kansas City Chiefs is all over. His contract expires soon after the 2025-26, making him a free agent.

Unless until something is drawn up in short order, Kelce's time in could have come to an end.
