Earlier this year, the Los Angeles Dodgers had signed the new Japanese sensation, Roki Sasaki. He even opened up about how in the difficult times, he never lost sight of his goals.

Roki Sasaki opens up about his difficult time after signing with Dodgers

On Sunday, March 16th, MLB.com released an interview with the 23-year-old. In that very interview, Sasaki has talked about the 'difficult time' dealing with the 'natural disaster' during his signing with the Dodgers. Not just this, earlier this year, the LA battled a disastrous wildfire which took an emotional toll on the young Japanese star.

As I've also lived through a difficult time due to a natural disaster, I've always made sure to never lose sight of my goals and keep looking forward. Los Angeles is facing challenging and difficult times right now, and as a member of the Dodgers, starting today, I am dedicated to give my best and strive forward together with the people of the city, Sasaki said.

The new pitcher for the Dodgers even shared his experiences with natural calamities. Growing up, Sasaki used to live in Rikuzentakata. When Sasaki was just nine years old, his hometown was one of the victims of the Tohoku earthquake and the tsunami in March 2011.

Mookie Betts on Dodgers locker room

All thanks to Mookie Betts that the young Japanese Roki Sasaki has been welcomed in a rather comfortable and healthy environment in the Dodgers locker room. During an interview with the Dodger Blue last week, Betts talked about creating a Dodgers' locker room which feels comfortable for the new comers as well as Roki Sasaki too.

That’s not my job. It’s just something I take pride in doing. I’m here for a long time and I understand where I’m at in my career and how people view me. It took a little time to understand it, but I get it now. I understand I can help him feel comfortable and I’m going to do everything I can to make him comfortable, Betts expressed.

As the new MLB season fast approaches, the Dodgers would be hoping that Roki Sasaki lives up to his name and delivers in his rookie season.
