The New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor took all the blame for the team's 5-0 loss at the hands of Atlanta Braves. He feels that his performance was not upto the mark which was the main reason that the Mets have lost five games on the trot.
What did Francisco Lindor speak about his injury rumors?
During the postgame conference, Lindor was asked whether his toe injury had anything to do with his own performance, but he denied all the claims. He even mentioned that he's fully fit and it wasn't anything related to his health.
I’m good.
Not just this, Lindor feels that the team can't capitalize on on-field opportunities if their leadoff hitter can't reach base. For the Mets, the leadoff guy is none other than Francisco Lindor himself.
He even added that he will try to step up and continue to push forward. For Juan Soto and Pete Alonso to score, Lindor needs to move bases in order to boost their overall record.
While talking about their latest loss at the hands of the Braves, he said,
Every team goes through it. As a team, we've got to continue to push each other. We've got to dig deep and continue to climb.
Lindor even added that he can definitely get better.
The New York Mets still have one more game left in their series against the Atlanta Braves. After that, they will take on the Philadelphia Phillies in a three-game series as they will be traveling on the road.
Meanwhile, the New York Mets are just one game away from losing their lead to the Phillies. They are just only half a game behind Chicago Cubs for the National League's best record.
Francisco Lindor thanks fans for All-Star game voting
Before Wednesday's game against the Atlanta Braves, Francisco Lindor said that he was thankful for the Mets fans for their support and love. He is currently one of the favorites to be selected as NL's starting shortstop for the All-Star game with a whopping 1,019,273 votes to his name. His last appearance came in 2019, when he was playing with the Cleveland Indians.
I appreciate the love the fans have been giving me, not only all around the league but our New York fans have been special, Lindor said via NYPost.com. It would be an honor and it would be a dream.
Apart from Francisco Lindor, Mookie Betts sees himself second in the race for NL shortstops with 597,188 votes to his name. Lindor and Co. will look to avoid a clean sweep when they take on Atlanta Braves on Thursday at the Truist Park.
