While some of the players in Major League Baseball (MLB) get more of the headlines, there have been few whose performances have been as impactful as Max Muncy this postseason. The Los Angeles Dodgers infielder tied the MLB record for getting on base the most times in a row in the playoffs and also set the single-postseason record. For 12 straight plate appearances, Muncy managed to not get out and stood on first base as well.
Whose record did Max Muncy tie in the process?
Max Muncy tied with New York Yankees legend Reggie Jackson, who achieved this feat in two postseasons in 1977 and 1978. Muncy achieved this in one postseason and also did it in one series as well.
The New York Mets have been unable to keep him off the basepaths this season. In the process, he crossed David Ortiz's 2007 and Billy Hatcher's 1990 single-postseason records before tying with Jackson.
Dodgers see themselves on the cusp of World Series berth and the credit goes to many players. Whether it is Shohei Ohtani or Mookie Betts, whose performances have been stellar but Muncy's performances have been the most impactful of late.

Max Muncy registered an out in his fifth plate appearance during Game 4 and is now one short of all-time consecutive postseason successful plate appearances by himself.
After the game, he said via MLB, "I definitely wasn't aware of it, but it's obviously really cool for me. The most important thing is that it means I’m getting on base, giving my teammates a chance to drive me in, creating havoc, doing anything I can. To me, that's just the important thing, is that I’m having good at-bats and helping get on base for guys.”
The streak for Muncy began in Game 2 in his second plate appearance and lasted through his first four plate appearances in Game 4. Muncy will begin his new streak and get his team into the World Series in Game 5 as the Mets are 3-1 down.
