Jimmy Butler went down with an injury during the first quarter of Game 2 of the ongoing NBA Playoffs. The Golden State Warriors were facing a solid Houston Rockets side as Butler was one of the players taking the hit from Rockets' physicality and in the process, he landed heavily on his back after colliding with Amen Thompson.
What exactly happened to Jimmy Butler?
The 35-year-old power forward was on the floor in visible pain and later left the court as he made his move to the locker room. Early into the second quarter of the game, there were reports that Butler was out for the remainder of the game as he suffered a pelvic contusion.
In the eight minutes that Butler played for, he registered only three points and two rebounds while shooting 1-2 from the field. He was later replaced by Jonathan Kuminga. Not just this, Brandin Podziemski (stomach illness) is listed as questionable after he looked worse for the wear in the first quarter.
Jimmy Butler likely to undergo MRI scans after suffering pelvic contusion
In the news that followed after Butler's latest injury, The Athletic's Anthony Slater had reported that Jimmy Butler will undergo an MRI scan after suffering a pelvic contusion. He even added that team's star players such as Stephen Curry and Jonathan Kuminga both suffered similar injuries as they missed time.
MRI expected tomorrow for Jimmy Butler, per source. Warriors have dealt with a couple of these pelvic contusions recently after similar falls from Steph Curry and Jonathan Kuminga. Curry missed two games. Kuminga missed one. Then it became a pain management issue.
The Warriors were severely missing their veteran on both ends of the floor. His ability to create halfcourt offense and his defensive powers were something the team was missing as they were forced to play catchup for the remainder of the game. As the Game 3 and 4 moves to the Warriors hometurf, there is no conclusive report which suggests what will be the status for Jimmy Butler for both these games.
