After dropping Game 4 against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday, the New York Knicks are in major trouble in the Eastern Conference Finals. A trail 1-3 means they are on the verge of crashing out of the season, making the upcoming contest on Thursday a must-win encounter. If the odds weren't stacked against them already, the Knicks have suffered a huge injury setback during Game 4.

New York Knicks Suffer Major Injury Blow Ahead of Game 5

Karl-Anthony Towns, who is a key member of the squad, sustained a devastating injury on his left knee the other day in the fourth quarter at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Towns walked into his postgame press conference after Game 5 with a heavy limp, according to Chris Herring of ESPN. Subsequently, the New York Knicks announced on Wednesday that Towns is questionable to play in Game 5, as he has been diagnosed with a left knee contusion.

Karl-Anthony Towns Produced Impressive Figures

After representing the Minnesota Timberwolves for the first nine years of his career, Karl-Anthony Towns moved to the Knick ahead of the start of the season. In his first season in New York, Towns has produced phenomenal figures. The 29-year-old averaged 24.4 points, 12.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists during the regular season in 72 games. In the 2025 playoffs, Towns is averaging 21.3 points, 11.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists. The Kentucky product is averaging 25.8 points, 11.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in the Knicks-Pacers series. 

Towns' availability for Game 5 could impact the odds of the Knicks winning. The five-time All-Star declined to speak about his injury after Game 4.  “I’m only thinking about this loss, I’m not thinking about that right now,” Towns said. "It’s disappointing when you don’t get a win. Just didn’t do enough to get the job done tonight.”
