Kevin Durant had a spell of two and a half seasons with the Phoenix Suns

The NBA is preparing for another blockbuster Kevin Durant trade ahead of the draft and offseason. The Phoenix Suns star player will turn 37 in September and sees himself on an expiring contract, but it's not stopping teams from being interested in his services.

What did NBA insider reveal about Kevin Durant's trade?

ESPN's Shams Charania has revealed the three teams which are most likely going to be his preferred destinations. The teams are the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets. The entire league has a clue that these teams have an outright chance of signing the former MVP, but reportedly, at least eight teams are interested.

The Miami Heat doesn't have a strong core at the moment but the thing that is in their favor is the weather and no income taxes. The Spurs and Rockets have a young team at their disposal and they could use an experienced veteran like Kevin Durant in their ranks.

Durant is on an expiring $54.7 million deal for 2025-26, and the Suns have made clear to six-to-eight seriously interested teams that they will make the best deal for the franchise – even outside of his preferred list of Miami, San Antonio and Houston, Charania tweeted.

Kevin Durant had a spell of two and a half seasons with the Phoenix Suns. He sees himself on an expiring contract but will have the option to sign two-year extension upto $122 million, if he is traded before July 6. But, if he waits for another six months after his trade, then his extension could go as high as $124 million.

Despite his age, Durant still remains as one of the best in the business. But, he has been hampered by injuries since 2019 as most of them came in freak accident's. He is a class apart when he is on the court but his stint with the Suns has been disappointing due to team's overall results.

The Phoenix Suns reached as high as the second round of the playoffs when they acquired Durant in 2023, but lost out to Denver Nuggets. Minnesota Timberwolves got the better of them last year and in this campaign, they missed out on postseason.

Charles Barkley has an advice for Phoenix Suns

Former NBA MVP and Phoenix Suns legend Charles Barkley has an advice for his former team amid Kevin Durant's trade saga. Barkley has had his differences with Durant in the past as he wants the franchise to get the best package for him and not worry about his feelings.

You make the best deal for him, Barkley said. Don't worry about his feelings and make the best deal for yourself. Some people are going to take a chance on him, and some people are not because he only has one year left, and he’s 36.

Amongst the three teams interested in Durant's services, the Spurs and Rockets have a bright chance as they can trade young players for him.
