Rickea Jackson injured herself while playing against Minnesota Lynx.

The Los Angeles Sparks will be taking on Chicago Sky on Sunday, May 25th at the Crypto.com Arena. Rickea Jackson has already missed the last two games due to a concussion. With a three game losing streak, the Los Angeles Sparks would be hoping that Jackson comes back and changes the fortunes of the team.

Will Rickea Jackson play against Chicago Sky?

The Sparks and Sky will go head to head on Sunday. The most important thing from that match is that Chicago Sky are still winless. But, the way Sparks have performed in the last two matches, Chicago Sky have a great chance to use this opportunity to take full advantage of their poor run and register their first win on the board.

But, the news coming out from the Sparks camp is that Rickea Jackson won't be suiting up for the clash against Chicago Sky on Sunday. It will be her third game on the trot that she will be missing. There are no certain dates that when can Jackson make her return. The WNBA has put Rickea Jackson under strict concussion protocol to prevent exacerbation of her head injury.

Kelsey Plum and Azura Stevens will need to lead the charge for the Sparks without the assistance from Jackson.

What exactly happened to Rickea Jackson?

The Los Angeles Sparks and Rickea Jackson were taking on the Minnesota Lynx last Sunday in their second game of the 2025 WNBA season. The Sparks had a great start to the season after defeating Golden State Valkyries in their season opener. There were high chances that Sparks could run away with the game against Minnesota, but losing Jackson changed the complexion of the game.

During the dying second of the third quarter, Jackson collided with Alanna Smith as both players dove for the ball. Jackson's face had hit the back of Smith resulting in a head injury. She then didn't return for the fourth quarter and has been out since then.

Rickea Jackson had a fantastic rookie season last year as he averaged 13.4 points and 3.9 rebounds while shooting at a 45.6% accuracy. While the Los Angeles Sparks struggled to secure a spot in the 2024 WNBA playoffs, Jackson had already registered her as one of the key players. Considering how her rookie season went, she was expected to play a bigger role during the ongoing season.

With the absence of Jackson in the lineup, Angel Reese and Chicago Sky should take full advantage of this and register their first win of the season on Sunday.
