Warriors are currently on roll in the league.

The Golden State Warriors have a history of making daring moves to stay in championship contention. The Warriors extended their record to 40-29 with a 104-93 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night, securing their status as the Western Conference's No. 6 seed. While Draymond Green's defensive masterclass against Giannis Antetokounmpo dominated the headlines, speculations circulate that the Warriors' front office is already planning a huge offseason trade to boost their lineup.

Warriors Aiming to Rope in Hornets' Center

One name that has arisen as a potential target is Charlotte Hornets rising center Mark Williams, whom the Los Angeles Lakers famously passed on earlier this season. If the Golden State Warriors are successful in acquiring Williams, it might be a game-changer for their title hopes—and a cruel blow to the Lakers.

In their recent win over the Bucks, Draymond Green demonstrated why he is one of the most versatile defenders in NBA history. Green demonstrated his potential to flourish as a small-ball center by limiting Giannis Antetokounmpo to zero points and forced him to miss all seven field goal tries. Despite Green's brilliance, the Warriors' front staff is apparently looking into long-term options to fortify their frontcourt.

General Manager Mike Dunleavy is rumored to be evaluating prospective trade targets, with Mark Williams of the Charlotte Hornets emerging as a top candidate. Williams, a 23-year-old center, has shown great potential this season, averaging 15.4 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting an astounding 59.3% from the floor.

The Los Angeles Lakers were widely linked to Mark Williams before the February 6 trade deadline but ultimately backed out. This decision allowed other teams, particularly the Golden State Warriors, to chase the young center.

As Bleacher Report’s Mike Chiari noted, “On the surface, Williams seems like a good fit for a rebuilding team like Charlotte since he is just 23 years old and the Hornets can afford to take a wait-and-see approach with him in terms of his health.”

If Williams becomes available again this offseason, the Warriors may be one of his top suitors. With Stephen Curry still in his prime, Golden State is in win-now mindset and may be prepared to give up precious assets to acquire Williams.
