The New Orleans Pelicans got great news on Zion Williamson ahead of Sunday's clash against the Golden State Warriors.
Latest update on Zion Williamson
Williamson's status was changed to "questionable" on the team's injury report after he missed six consecutive games because of a left hamstring strain.
Williamson was diagnosed with a grade 1 left hamstring strain on November 4. He recently returned to full on-court work with contact and could be approved to make his return against the Warriors, though likely under a monitored minutes limit.
Williamson's status changed after the Pelicans parted ways with coach Willie Green after a 2-10 start and appointed assistant James Borrego as interim coach. Borrego was seen chatting with the team's poster boy following Sunday's practice. When questioned about Williamson's return timeline, Borrego refused to provide a solid update.
"When he’s on the floor, good things happen," the Pelicans' interim coach said, as quoted by Rod Walker on X.
Surprising record of New Orleans Pelicans
Zion Williamson has missed seven games this season, and shockingly, the two games that New Orleans won came in the athletic star's absence. The former Duke phenom is averaging 22.8 points on 48.7% shooting, along with 6.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
List of ruled out players
Meanwhile, Jordan Poole (left quad strain), Dejounte Murray (right Achilles rupture), Tre Alexander (G League two-way) and Hunter Dickinson (G League two-way) remain sidelined with their injuries.
