Moeen Ali’s ultra-attacking mode made a tough run chase look easy as he hit as many as sixes at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. The in-form Englishman remained unbeaten for 77 from just 23 deliveries to guide his team to 10-wicket victory while chasing a mammoth 146-run target set by Team Adu Dhabi in T10 League 2021-22.
The southpaw reached his half-century in just 16 deliveries. He accumulated 66 runs with fours and sixes only. The veteran also hit four consecutive sixes spaced out in two overs and batted with a stupendous strike rate of 334.78. The match did not even go down to the wire as Northern Warriors went over the line with five balls to spare.
The 34-year-old had support from his opening partner as well. Kennar Lewis remained unbeaten for 65 off 32 deliveries including four fours and sixes. A total of seven fours and 15 sixes were recorded in the match-winning partnership. Abu Dhabi’s Merchant de Lange turned out to be the most expensive bowler in the run chase as he conceded 42 runs in his two overs.
This is not the first time the duo of Ali and Lewis have dominated bowlers. They also scored shared a 102-run partnership in just 6.1 overs against Chennai Braves earlier this week.
Ingram dominates
Earlier, Warriors’ bowlers took a beating as well. Colin Ingram scored a 25-ball 61 laced with five fours and as many sixes. Ingram’s knock was supported by cameos from skipper Liam Livingstone and opener Paul Stirling with 11-ball 28 and 11-ball 27 respectively.
Thomas’ worst day out
For Team Abu Dhabi, Caribbean pacer Oshane Thomas turned out to be most expensive bowler as he conceded 50 runs in his two overs. Thomas was hit for six sixes and two fours during his spell. He bowled a no ball as well in his first over which was followed by a six off opener Stirling’s bat.
