Sri Lanka's in-form spinner Wanindu Hasaranga stole the show again with four wickets in the T10 League clash at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. In the sixth game of the tournament between Team Abu Dhabi and Deccan Gladiators, Hasaranga picked up four crucial wickets for Gladiators.
On the fourth ball of his first over of the match, the 24-year old dismissed the dangerous-looking Liam Livingstone on the individual score of 21. Within a span of a minute, Livingstone was joined by his other batting partner, Colin Ingram in the dressing room as he bagged a golden duck.
The mystery spinner didn’t stop here. In his second over, the leg-spinner gave another double blow to Team Abu Dhabi as the Sri Lankan sent out Chris Benjamin and Marchant de Lange on consecutive deliveries. The leggie was twice on a hat-trick in the match but unfortunately, on both occasions, he couldn’t get three in a row like he did against South Africa in T20 World Cup 2021.
Not only with the ball but the all-rounder was a star with the bat as well. Hasaranga smashed quickfire 30 off 18 balls before getting dismissed in the form of a run out. His breathtaking knock helped Gladiators to post a decent total of 97/9 in 10 overs. However, his all-around show didn't prove enough for his side as Team Abu Dhabi chased down the target on the last ball of the penultimate over of their innings with four wickets in hand.
Interestingly, the no.1 T20I bowler who has been the most consistent Sri Lankan bowler in recent times was not picked in the Test squad for ongoing home series against West Indies.
