England got bowled out for 286 in their first innings of the 3rd Test

England captain Ben Stokes was left fuming after being dismissed by Mitchell Starc with an absolute ripper on Day 3 of the third Ashes Test. Stokes' long stay at the crease came to an end after facing 198 deliveries as he was clean-bowled by the left-arm seamer. He departed after playing a gritty knock of 83 as Australia put an end to the 106-run stand between him and Archer.

Stokes was left disappointed after seeing his stumps get rattled and even jumped on the crease to vent out his frustration.  Despite having ggotten England out of trouble on Day 2, he failed to get them into the lead as Australia's 371-run total in their first innings proved to be too much. Stokes' wicket would see the visitors go down to 274/9 before they were bundled out for 286 as Scott Boland got rid of Archer for 51.

Stokes dismissed after fighting knock

The  Adelaide crowd gave Stokes a warm ovation after he was dismissed. If it weren't for the all-rounder's innings then England would have fallen way behind Australia in the match, but thanks to him and Archer, the visitors trailed by less than 100 runs as the Baggy Greens took the crease for their second innings.

Both Boland and Pat Cummins were the pick of tyhe bowlers for the hosts as they picked up three scalps each. Nathan Lyon also contributed well with two wickets while Starc and Cameron Green chipped in with one each. It was another great bowling display from the Aussies as they continued to deliver the goods and ensured that they took substantial lead of 85 runs.

Australia lose Weatherald early

However, Australia didn't have a great start to their second innings as the in-form Jake Weatherald got sent back to the pavilion by Brydon Carse in just the second over. The duo of Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne now have the responsibility to form a big partnership so that the Aussies can take complete control of the match.
