Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan took a sharp dig at Pakistan on the occasion of India’s 18th anniversary of winning the inaugural T20 World Cup. MS Dhoni-led India defeated Pakistan by five runs in a thrilling final to clinch the title. Pathan emphasised India’s consistent dominance over their arch-rivals in T20 cricket, tracing the winning streak back to that historic 2007 final.
To mark the occasion, Pathan took to his ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) to celebrate India’s T20 World Cup triumph and delivered a pointed message aimed at Pakistan, who fell short in the final.

"What a day it was back in 2007. Where our World Cup dream was fulfilled. Beating Pakistan regularly started there in T20 cricket," wrote Irfan Pathan.
Pathan recently slammed current Pakistan players and their on-field gestures in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, which took place amid the political tensions between the two nations. Pakistan batter Sahibzada Farhan’s gun celebration after scoring a fifty and Haris Rauf’s fighter-jet gesture were the most controversial gestures during the India vs Pakistan clash.
Notably, India and Pakistan faced each other twice in the Asia Cup 2025, where India won both clashes by seven and six wickets respectively. Pakistan managed to win just three T20Is against India in their 15 outings in the shortest format of the game.
India's performance in Asia Cup 2025
Suryakumar Yadav-led India are currently unbeaten in the Asia Cup 2025. The Men in Blue defeated UAE, Pakistan and Oman in their group stage matches respectively and after the side came victorious against Pakistan in their first Super Four clash of the continental tournament. India will now face Bangladesh in their second Super Four clash at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
