Ahead of India’s squad announcement for the two-Test series against West Indies, star pacer Prasidh Krishna got an injury scare. On Day 2 of the unofficial Test between India A and Australia A, Krishna was hit on the helmet by pacer Henry Thornton’s bouncer which left him concussed, as per a report by Sportstar.
Krishna did not leave the field immediately after the mandatory concussion test. After an over, the pacer felt uneasy and walked off the field.
Krishna was batting on 16 off 25 deliveries. He had hit one four and a six. He was trying to stitch a partnership with Sai Sudharsan as India A had lost seven wickets for 127.
Earlier in the game, Krishna could not have much impact with the ball at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. He bowled 17 overs including three maidens and conceded 76 runs. His only wicket in the innings was opener Campbell Kellaway with the new ball.
Big names fail, Sudharsan scores fifty amidst collapse
India A were bowled out for 194. KL Rahul failed to make an impact and lost his wicket for 11 runs from 24 balls. Narayan Jagadeesan could not get to his half-century and lost his wicket for 38 off 45 deliveries.
From 59/1, they lost half the side for 75 in the 22nd over. Devdutt Padikkal, captain Dhruv Jurel and Nitish Kumar Reddy departed after scoring just one run.
Sudharsan continued to run out of partners as Ayush Badoni got stumped for a 35-ball 21 to Cooper Connolly and Manav Suthar bagged a two-ball duck. With Krishna getting retired hurt and Mohammed Siraj departing for 1, Sudharsan could not help India get past 200. He scored 75 runs from 140 deliveries and became Murphy's second victim of the day. Thornton was the pick of the bowlers with a four-fer.
Australia A's massive 10th wicket partnership
In the first session on Day 2, Murphy and Thornton frustrated India A bowlers as they shared a 91-run partnership for the 10th wicket. Their partnership helped Australia A post 420 on the board.
