Captain Suryakumar Yadav, during a pre-match press conference, came up with a clever response when asked how he deals with the outside noise surrounding India versus Pakistan matches. The two rival teams are set to face off once again in the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2025. Their previous encounter generated considerable controversy, particularly after the Indian team refused to shake hands with the Pakistani players following the game.
Suryakumar Yadav on outside noise surrounding IND vs PAK clash
The incident caused an uproar within the Pakistan camp, which boycotted the post-match press conference and filed a complaint against match referee Andy Pycroft. As the teams prepare for their rematch, the 'outside noise' continues to grow. When asked about it, Suryakumar had a simple, yet witty, solution. He advised that the best way to handle the pressure is to close the room, switch off your phone, and get some rest before the game. He did acknowledge, however, that completely avoiding the distractions is difficult when they are off the field.
"Close your room, switch off your phone and sleep. I think that's the best. It's easy to say, but sometimes it is difficult because you meet a lot of friends, you go out for dinner, and you have a lot of players also around who like to see all these things, so it's very difficult," Suryakumar said during the press conference.

Suryakumar stated that it is up to each player to decide what information they choose to absorb and focus on before a match. The Indian captain mentioned that he has advised his team members to only take the positive aspects from the pre-game discussions, especially when it comes to receiving advice. He concluded by saying that the players are in a good mental state as they prepare to face Pakistan.
"But then it's on you what you want to listen to, what you want to have in your mind, and go on and have a practice session or go on and have to play a game. But I have been very clear with all the boys, I think it's very important if you want to do well in this tournament and going forward, we will have to shut off a lot of noise from outside and take what is good for you."
"I'm not saying shut the noise completely, but take what is good for you. I mean someone can give you good advice as well, which can help you in the game, which can help you on the ground. So I think that is very important for me and the rest I feel everyone is in a good space," the 35-year-old concluded.
India and Pakistan will lock horns with each other once again in Super Four encounter which is scheduled to be played on September 21 at the Dubai International stadium.
