India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah remarked that even though he is not used to bowling upfront in the powerplay, he is doing hisbest to contribute for the team. Notably, the 31-year-old has been used quite a bit in the powerplay in Asia Cup, leading to him not bowling much in the death overs. Bumrah recalled how he bowled in the same role in 2016 when he was pretty new to international cricket.
“It is a different role. The team has wanted to use me up front. Something that is very new for me as well. Not used to doing this role. Remember doing it in 2016 when I first came into the side. Trying to contribute to the best of my ability," Bumrah was quoted as saying by broadcasters.
Bumrah's views on facing Pakistan for the third time
On the other hand, Bumrah was also asked about facing Pakistan thrice in the tournament. To this, the pacer remarked that the match will be 'interesting'. Notably, the 31-year-old wasn't able to perform well in the previous match against the Men in Green and gave away 45 runs in his four-over spell. He will be hoping to improve in the all-important final.
“It has been exciting. Not very often in a multinational tournament you play one opposition three times, so interesting is the word for me," Bumrah stated.
“Any game, you start from zero. You start with confidence, but you do not go too high or too low. We only focus on our teams, our strengths, our combinations, we do well. If we look at the other team, it does not work well.," he added.
