Former India captain Virat Kohli rolled back the clock and played a spectacular knock against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2022. The maverick batter smashed his maiden T20I century, which was also his first international ton in 1,019 days. During his wonderous knock of 122 not off 61 balls, Kohli powered 12 fours and six sixes and registered an outstanding strike rate of 200. Kohli ended his Asia Cup campaign with 276 runs in five matches and in the process smashed two half-centuries and a ton.

Before the Asia Cup, talks about Kohli's poor run of form and how it will impact India's chances of winning the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia ranged like wildfire. Some former cricketers and commentators even hinted that the maverick batter should not be considered for selection in India's World Cup squad.

As all the talks have now been put to bed after Kohli's stunning display in the Asia Cup 2022. It finally looks like the 'King' has found his lost mojo once again, ending his long spell of poor form with the willow.

Former India captain and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, Sourav Ganguly was recently asked whether he gave any advice to Kohli during his lean patch. This is how Ganguly responded:

"I don't get to see him (Virat Kohli) as much. I maybe the president of the board but the poor guy's always travelling. He's on the road all the time. So you don't get to see him much," the BCCI chief said on the YouTube channel TRS Clips.

Kohli's return to his ominous touch comes as delightful news for Indian cricket and its fans even though the Men in Blue performed poorly in the continental competition and were ousted without even qualifying for the final.

With the ICC T20 World Cup just over a month away, India needs their maverick batter in full song in order to clinch the prestigious trophy 15 years after winning the inaugural edition. Also, let's not forget that the ODI World Cup isn't too far away either and Kohli regaining his old touch, will only serve the country well.
