Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 21 runs at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on September 9 in the Asia Cup 2023 clash to leave South Africa behind. Now, the Dasun Shanaka-led side has the second-longest winning streak in the history of ODI cricket.

With a close two-run win over Afghanistan to advance to Super Fours, Sri Lanka had equalled South Africa’s record. In 2005, South Africa had registered 12 consecutive wins from February to October. Also, Pakistan had 12 consecutive ODI wins from November 2007 to June 2008.

Sri Lanka are currently chasing the mighty Australia team of 2003's record. The Ricky Ponting-led side won 21 ODIs in a row from January to May 2003.
