Kuldeep Yadav could not make an impact in the Visakhapatnam ODI as he got to bowl just one over and there were not enough runs on the board. In the decider of three-ODI series, Kuldeep preyed on Australia's middle-order batters to help India restrict the total of 269. While Kuldeep got rid of David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne, the wicket of Carey was special as it made him look like an inexperienced batter.

The left-arm chinaman bowler bowled it slower through the air. There was a slight drift and the ball pitched around leg. Carey did not know whether to go forward or on the back foot. As the ball turned away from him, he tried to open the face of the bat. But the ball beat the bat and grazed the off stump to leave Carey dumbfounded.

The 28-year-old made it look like that Carey was new to the crease. The wicketkeeper-batter was stitching a crucial partnership with Marcus Stoinis. The southpaw scored 38 runs off 46 deliveries including two fours and one six.

Skipper Rohit Sharma’s move worked as Kuldeep struck off the first ball of his last spell. Earlier, Kuldeep risked a review when Carey had just arrived at the crease. The googly hit Carey on the pads but the impact was clearly outside the off stump line. The 28-year-old managed to convince his skipper to take the review but soon got an earful for wasting it.

Kuldeep's first wicket of the day was Warner who went for a big shot and Hardik Pandya took a brilliant catch. Warner batted at no.4 as in-form Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh opened the innings. His second wicket was Labuschagne who miscued an aerial shot and got caught by Shubman Gill.

“I played the India A series here, so I knew the wicket was slow, so I was trying to spin the ball more. Those were important wickets and especially I loved the one against Alex Carey. I have been working on it, trying to bowl within the wickets, from there if I can spin the ball, so there is a lot of chance to get caught behind, there is a chance to get top-edge on slog just like David Warner did,” Kuldeep said in the post-match presentation.
