Sanjay Manjrekar voiced his sympathy for Virat Kohli’s unfortunate dismissal during India's Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai on September 20. Kohli was given out LBW, but replays later showed he had edged the ball. He chose not to use the Decision Review System (DRS), perhaps uncertain about the delivery, which turned out to be a missed chance to save his wicket.

On Twitter, Manjrekar pointed out that Kohli likely refrained from reviewing to preserve the option for his teammates, highlighting his selflessness. In the Chennai Test, Kohli struggled with the bat, scoring just 6 runs in the first innings and 16 in the second. His early exit compounded India's difficulties, as they lost three wickets before lunch on Day 2.
"Felt bad for Virat today. He obviously didn’t think he had hit it. Just wanted to know from Gill if ball was hitting stumps. Despite Gill encouraging him to go for the review anyway he walked away dejected wanting to keep the 3 reviews for his team," Manjrekar's post on X read.

Captain Rohit Sharma appeared visibly frustrated as India faced a challenging start in their second innings, despite bowling out Bangladesh for a low score of 149 runs in the first innings. India's batting woes made the match more competitive, despite Kohli's early dismissal.
However, India managed to build a strong lead, reaching 81/3 at stumps on Day 2, with a 308-run advantage. This put India in a good position going into the next day's play. Manjrekar's comments echoed the sentiments of many Indian cricket fans, who sympathised with Kohli's unfortunate dismissal.
Sanjay Manjrekar all praise for Jasprit Bumrah
Manjrekar showered praise on Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, calling him a "champion bowler" with "zero weakness." Manjrekar elaborated on Bumrah's exceptional skills and abilities.
"Is there anything more left to say about Bumrah as a champion bowler? Well I realised today that he is a bowler with just strengths, zero weakness. Guess, that’s the ultimate yardstick for greatness," Manjrekar wrote in another tweet.
Jasprit Bumrah played a key role in India's dominance over Bangladesh, restricting them to a total of 149 runs in the first innings. Bumrah's four-wicket haul, with figures of 4/50 in 11 overs, was instrumental in India's success.
