Pakistan star batter Fakhar Zaman who was awarded Player of the Match for his iconic performance against India in last edition of the Champions Trophy 2017 final where the Sarfaraz Ahmed-led side defeated India by 180 runs to win the title is hopeful to repeat that again in the upcoming India vs Pakistan clash.
India and Pakistan are set to lock horns against each other in Champions Trophy 2025. The arch-rivals will face each other on February 23 at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
In the exclusive conversation with Sports Tak, Fakhar Zaman reckons that if the ball comes to the bat then he will repeat his heroics in the upcoming clash against India.
"As a player, I try to play well in every match. If I have a day and the ball comes to the bat, and like luck gave me in 2017, and like you have Luck with you, then why not? I have a plan in every match" Fakhar Zaman told Sports Tak.
Fakhar Zaman on playing in India
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to feature at a neutral venue in ICC events. Zaman recalled India's hospitality for the Pakistan Cricket team when they arrived in India to feature in the ODI World Cup 2023.
"Yes, we will definitely miss (playing in India) as we enjoyed a lot during our visit there for the ODI World Cup 2023. We were delighted with the kind of support and the hospitality we got there. The locals gave us a warm welcome when we went to Hyderabad for the first time, they all showered their love on us. Yes, we will miss it all. If India had come to Pakistan, we wouldve given them an even grander welcome and hospitality but they are not coming. Its fine, but were excited to play against them in Dubai," Zaman told Sports Tak.
Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to start from February 19 with hosts Pakistan taking on New Zealand in Lahore. India will play their opener clash against Bangladesh and the Rohit Sharma-led side will play all their matches in Dubai.
