During the second semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against South Africa, former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson became the fourth-fastest batter to reach the milestone, scoring a single against Marco Jansen in the 20th over of the innings to reach 19000 runs in international cricket. The Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli is the fastest to reach the milestone in 399 innings, followed by Sachin Tendulkar (432 innings) and Brian Lara (433 innings).
Kane Williamson's massive feat
Williamson is the 16th man in international cricket to reach the milestone and the first player from his country to do so. He then reached his 48th half century off 62 balls, completing a century stand with Rachin Ravindra for the second wicket. The former Kiwi captain has been in outstanding form this year, scoring 341 runs from seven innings at an average of 68.20 with one hundred and two fifties.
In their most recent Champions Trophy group match, he scored an incredible 81 (120) against India. Prior to that, he scored an incredible 133* (113) against South Africa in the second match of the tri-series. Since his debut in 2010, Williamson has been the mainstay of New Zealand's batting lineup, amassing over 19000 runs at an average of 48.62 with 47 hundreds and 152 fifties.
The former Kiwi captain has amassed 9276 runs in Test matches at an average of 54.88 from 33 hundreds and 37 fifties, over 7100 runs in ODIs from 163 innings at an average of 49.11 from 14 fifties and 47 fifties, and 2575 runs from 90 innings in T20Is at an average of 33.44 and a strike rate of 123.08 with 18 fifties.
Both Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson smashed crucial centuries and led their team to a big total. After them, Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips took the charge. At the time of writing New Zealand is batting at 324/7 in 47 overs.
