Legendary India batter Rahul Dravid’s son Anvay scored a blazing half-century in second of the three youth One-Day series against Sri Lanka Under-19. In his third appearance for India Under-19 in a One-Day encounter, Anvay scored 87 runs from just 67 balls, featuring nine fours and a six.

In Hambantota, India U19 captain Yashbardhan Chauhan won the toss and opted to bat first. In the third over, Yashbardhan lost his wicket to Sethmika Seneviratne. Debutant Gimhan Mendis got the other over Sagar Virk out for a single-digit score. Just when a partnership was building between VK Vineeth and Kushagra Ojha, it was broken by Kavija Gamage in the 17th over. Vineeth got bowled for a 45-ball 24.
Anvay Dravid walked out to bat and got off the mark straightaway with a couple of runs. In his next over, Gamage got the wicket of Ojha as well. He scored 38 runs from 45 balls. At 81/4 in the 19th over, Arjun Rajput joined Anvay in the middle.
Anvay, Arjun help India U19 recover
Anvay hit his first boundary off the 15th ball he faced. More boundaries were scored by both batters as the innings progressed and they settled in. In the 32nd over, Anvay hit Chamika Heenatigala for the first six of his innings. In the 33th over, Rajput hit a six as well, reaching his fifty from 57 deliveries.
In the 37th over, Anvay reached his fifty from 47 balls. The partnership was broken in the 40th over. Rajput was dismissed run out in an attempt to take another run. He scored 76 runs from 81 balls, including nine fours and a six. They shared a 145-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
Mendis’ fifer cuts shot Anvay, IND U19’s innings
In Mendis' next over, he knocked over Yashveer Goud. In the 44th over, Anway got bowled by Mendis as well. He missed a chance to score his maiden ton for youth ODIs. After Anvay's 67-ball 87, India U19 couldn't finish with a flourish. Mohit Ulva got run out. In the 48th over, Mendis struck twice as India U19 were bowled out for 285. On his debut, Mendis claimed a fifer for 41 runs from 8.2 overs.
What happened in first game of the series?
In the previous One-Day clash, Anvay scored 14 runs from 19 balls in the high-scoring encounter. In the run chase of 321, IND U19 had gotten over the line with four wickets in hand and as many balls to spare. While Virk and Lakshya Raichandani scored fifties, Ojha scored a 67-ball 92 laced with five sixes and eight fours.
