Big Update on CWG 2022 Women's Cricket: One of India's Covid-19 positive cricketers out of isolation, soon to join squad ahead of Australia clash

Indian women's team member Sabbhineni Meghana is now out of isolation and will be at Birmingham for the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2022 most likely by August 28. A source privy to the development told Sports Tak that her Test report is now negative and she is fine now. She will be traveling to Birmingham to join the team.

Indian women's team member Sabbhineni Meghana is now out of isolation and will be at Birmingham for the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2022 most likely by August 28. A source privy to the development told Sports Tak that her Test report is now negative and she is fine now. She will be traveling to Birmingham to join the team.

 

Its highly unlikely that women's team will participate in the opening ceremony on August 28 as they have match on August 29 against Australia.

 

Earlier, two members of India's women cricket team – Pooja Vastrakar and Meghana – tested positive for Covid-19. The second member of the team tested positive for the virus on July 26 ahead of India's series opener against Australia on July 29.
 

Along with the team, three standbys were named as well who would travel with the team. The standbys may get a chance to feature in the squad if the players don’t recover in time. 
 

Indi are placed in Group A. After July 29 clash against Australia, India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan on July 31 followed by Barbados on August 3.
