Yashasvi Jaiswal has levelled Virat Kohli's run tally of 655 runs in the fourth Test against England in Ranchi to become the joint second-highest run-getter in India in a home Test series. Jaiswal has had a brilliant series against England, scoring two half centuries and two double centuries in the four Test matches so far, and could also end up with the most runs ever in India during a home Test series.
Kohli accumulated his runs in 2016 during a series where England faced India in five games. Over eight innings, he recorded two centuries and two half-centuries, with his highest score being 235. Sunil Gavaskar continues to lead this ranking, having amassed 732 runs in six matches against the West Indies during the 1978/79 season.

Kohli absolutely trashed England in 2016, scoring 655 runs in five matches with two half-centuries and two centuries at an average of 109.16. His highest score was 235. India absolutely dominated England, winning the five-match series 4-0.

Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has taken international cricket by storm since his debut in 2023. He has been in phenomenal form against England; he has scored 655 runs with two half-centuries and two centuries, with his highest being 214. 2017 was another brilliant year for Virat Kohli with the bat, especially during the Test series against Sri Lanka. Kohli scored 610 runs in just three matches, at an average of 152.5, with one half-century and three centuries. His best score was 243. India won the three match series 1-0.
5. Vijay Manjrekar 586 runs against England 1961
Vijay Manjrekar was absolutely brilliant with the bat against England in 1971, scoring 586 runs in five matches with an average of 83.71. He scored one century and four half centuries, with his highest score being 189. India won the five-match series 2-0.

Talking about the match, Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to pavilion after scoring 37 off 44 as Joe Root grabbed the prized wicket. Meanwhile India are on brink of clinching fourth Test against England. However, they have suffered a few hiccups in the middle after getting a good start. While chasing a lowly target of 192 runs, India are currently placed at 121/5 with first innings hero Dhruv Jurel and Shubman Gill intact on the crease.
