In what comes as heartbreaking news for England cricket supporters, destructive middle-order batter Liam Livingstone has been ruled out from the remainder of the ongoing Test series against Pakistan. The England Cricket Board on December 05 (Monday) announced that Livingstone sustained a right knee injury and will miss the rest of the Test series against the Men in Green.
"England Men's all-rounder Liam Livingstone has been ruled out of the rest of the Test series against Pakistan with a right knee injury. He will return to the UK on Tuesday and commence rehab with the ECB and Lancashire medical teams respectively," England Cricket said in a statement.
While announcing the news, the English cricket board also noted that they are 'yet to make a decision to call up a replacement'.
Livingstone made his Test debut against Pakistan in the ongoing first Test match. The 29-year-old was dismissed for nine runs off 10 balls in the first innings. During his debut knock, the hard-hitting batter smashed one six as England batters put on a historic display in Rawalpindi. In the second innings, Livingstone remained unbeaten on seven runs off eight balls.
The right-handed batter and a handy leg-spinner, who is considered a white-ball specialist, played 62 First Class matches before being handed his maiden Test cap. He has decent First Class record, scoring 3,069 runs with the help of seven centuries and 15 half-centuries.
