Earlier in the tournament, Muhammad Rizwan faced flak from the Indian cricket community after dedicating his match-winning performance against Sri Lanka to the "brothers and sisters of Gaza" amid the ongoing conflict in the region.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) conducted an investigation into the matter but cleared Rizwan after consulting with the Pakistan team management. They concluded that Rizwan's statement was not of a political nature.

The ICC accepted the explanation provided and did not require Rizwan to remove his tweet.

Cricketers have faced repercussions in the past for expressing personal opinions on political matters during matches, but there is no ban on posting such statements on social media, allowing players to make general statements.

Meanwhile, fans who will be attending the ODI World Cup clash between Pakistan and Australia in Bengaluru on October 20 will not be permitted to display placards in support of either Israel or Palestine due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

There have been instances of fans raising placards in support of Israel during this World Cup, particularly during matches in Ahmedabad and Delhi. However, this practice will no longer be allowed. Additionally, fans will not be allowed to chant slogans endorsing either the Israeli or Palestinian narratives during the match.
