The cricket fraternity and over two billion fans are licking their lips in anticipation of watching the ODI World Cup match between India and Pakistan. The blockbuster contest is scheduled to be staged in the largest cricket stadium in the world - Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14 (Saturday). With a seating capacity of well over one lakh, the fixture promises to be a majestic spectacle and to make it even more grand, a small ceremony is being planned, which will take place ahead of the toss.

The Sports Tak has learned that there will be a musical ceremony in Ahmedabad before the India vs Pakistan match gets underway. Several celebrities and VIPs are expected to be present for the ceremony and the match. Singer Arijit Singh will reportedly perform ahead of the match while superstars like Sachin Tendulkar, Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan will also be in attendance.
According to the information accessed by Sports Tak, the ceremony will last for around 30 minutes and the tentative start time is 12:40 PM IST on Saturday. The musical event and other festivities will conclude by 1:10 PM IST with a toss scheduled to be held 20 minutes later.
11,000 security personnel to be deployed
For the high-octane India-Pakistan World Cup cricket encounter, a robust security measures are being implemented. Over 11,000 personnel from diverse units like Gujarat Police, NSG, RAF, and home guards will be on duty, ensuring safety and order, as shared by a top official on Monday.
The heightened security is a reaction to specific threats, though the city of Ahmedabad hasn't experienced any communal disruptions during cricket games over the last two decades. To ensure further safety, forces will be positioned in several communally sensitive zones of the city, elaborated Ahmedabad's Commissioner of Police, G S Malik.
India vs Pakistan
It's worth noting that every fan is eagerly awaiting the match between India and Pakistan. Pakistan has secured two consecutive victories in the tournament so far. They first defeated the Netherlands and then triumphed over Sri Lanka in a successful run chase. On the other hand, India started with a win against Australia and will next face Afghanistan.
The Indian team has showcased splendid form, while the bowling weaknesses of the Pakistan team have been exposed. India is coming off a triumphant Asia Cup campaign, whereas Pakistan faced a crushing defeat in the same tournament. With this backdrop, it will be interesting to see which team emerges superior in front of the thousands of fans.
