Dewald Brevis opened up on his experience of sharing the field with MS Dhoni in IPL

Both Brevis and Dhoni featured for CSK in IPL 2025

South Africa batter Dewald Brevis joined the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) mid-way through the season as an injury replacement for Gurjapneet Singh and made a total of six apperances for the side in IPL 2025. However, the 22-year-old ended up making a significant impact in only a few games, finishing the season with 225 runs under his name. He hit two half-centuries and maintained an explosive strike-rate of 180.00 as well.

Brevis has so far featured in a total of three IPL seasons and has played for two different franchises in CSK and Mumbai Indians. The youngster reflected on his experience in the tournament and remarked that the time he has spent has been 'incredible'.

“I’ll always remember like, whenever I tell people it’s amazing. I had amazing times, my four years [in IPL]. It was incredible," Brevis said on AB de Villiers' YouTube channel.

The explosive batter also revealed about his experience of sharing the field with MS Dhoni during IPL 2025. He highlighted how the latter is humble on/off the field and always has time for the other players of the team.

“And I had to go through all of the journey like it’s been beautiful, and the one thing that I can just say from MS [Dhoni] is his humbleness and who he is as a person that stood out for me. How he is basically off the field, the time he has for players, for people," Brevis stated.

“His room door is always open. If he’s sleeping, that’s the only time it’s closed. And I found myself a few times in his room just sitting there with whatever he’s busy like chatting to him about his hobbies, watching cricket, and yeah, that’s just amazing and just to see how what he does like off the field and like everyone knows what he does on the field and at training and yeah just it’s very special," he added.

Meanwhile, Brevis recently made headlines after giving brilliant performances with the bat against Australia in a three-match T20I series. The 22-year-old showed immense maturity and played a magnificent knock of 125 runs against the Baggy Greens in Darwin and followed that up with another fiery inning of 53 in the next match held in Cairns. Though it was Australia who went on to clinch the series by 2-1, Brevis' displays with the bat are likely to cement his place in South Africa's T20I set-up for future assignments in the shortest format.
