The ongoing 'hookah' controversy has certainly gotten a lot of attention in recent days from Indian cricket fans. It all began after a 5-year-old video of Irfan Pathan recently went viral. In the video, Pathan can be seen talking about his exit from the Indian team under the leadership of MS Dhoni.
In the first part of the video, the former India all-rounder talked about his interaction with Dhoni during that time, however it was the latter part of the clip that made headlines. Pathan can be heard saying that he doesn't have a habit of setting up 'hookah' in someone else's room. The hookah part of the video was quickly connected with Dhoni and the clip eventually made rounds on social media.

"I don't have a habit of setting up hookah in someone's room or talking unnecessarily. Everyone knows. Sometimes, it's better not to speak. A cricketer's job is to perform on the field, and that's what I focused on," Pathan said in the video.
Pathan was dropped even after taking a fifer
Notably, Pathan's last appearance for India in one-day cricket came in 2012 against Sri Lanka and even though he picked up a fifer in the match, it eventually turned out to be his final game in the format. The reason why the all-rounder was dropped from the ODI set-up is unknown and that is why the then captain MS Dhoni has been the one who has been blamed for it.
Former India cricketer and Yuvraj Singh's father, Yograj Singh has now given his take on the matter and has claimed that the likes of Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh were also not treated well under Dhoni's captaincy. He further went on to say that Dhoni, Kapil Dev and Bishan Singh Bedi didn't treat people the right way and accused them of 'destroying' cricketers and teams.
"It is not only about Irfan Pathan. You see Gautam Gambhir speaking about it. Virender Sehwag openly said it as well. Harbhajan Singh spoke about how he was put out of the team like a fly. You should arrange a jury on why he did what he did. MS Dhoni doesn't want to answer. One who doesn't want to answer has a guilty conscience," Yograj said while speaking to InsideSport.
"I talk about Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni. I can talk about people whom I have been with. They have treated people like s***. Jo galat hai wo galat hai. Two wrongs cannot make one right. I say this openly, that our cricketers and team were destroyed by our captain," he added.
