The moment, albeit embarrassing for the management of the venue as well as the BCCI, was made the most of by the social media managers of the ICC. They shared some of these photos on Instagram with a witty caption, "We didn't mean to turn the lights out, but maybe we'll do it more often."

New Zealand will be hoping to continue their form from the match against England, which saw the Kiwis take revenge for their loss in the final back in the 2019 edition of the ODI World Cup.

In that game in Ahmedabad, which was also the first game of the tournament, New Zealand top-order batters Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra smashed twin centuries to help the Blackcaps make a statement with a nine-wicket win with 82 balls to spare in the World Cup 2023 opener.

Chasing 283 for the win turned out to be an easy task for the losing finalists of 2019 as Conway scored 152 runs from 121 balls including 19 fours and three sixes and Ravindra scored 123 runs from 96 balls including 11 fours and five sixes.
This was in stark contrast to the Netherlands' loss to Pakistan despite to tough fight. They put up a good show in patches but lost by 81 runs. Bas de Leede was the star performer for the Dutch side as he took a four-wicket haul and then scored a half-century in the unsuccessful run chase. The 23-year-old became the first to achieve the combination of four or more wickets and a half-century in two consecutive ODIs in the history of the format that spans over five decades.
