Australia rode on Travis Head's sensational century to trounce India by six wickets and clinch the ODI World Cup 2023 title. Chasing a lowly target of 240, Australia easily overhauled the lowly target of 241, thanks to Head's headstrong 137 off 120. Another player who played an instrumental role in Australia's title triumph was Marnus Labuschagne, who steadied the Kangaroos' boat when the chips were down after the early dismissals of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith.

Labuchange stitched a match-winning partnership of 192 runs with Head and cruised Australia to a comfortable victory. He ended up scoring an unbeaten 58 off 110 balls riding on just four boundaries.
After the conclusion of the match, the star batter, who wasn't even in Australia's ODI team two months back, said that it is the best achievement he has ever been part of.
“What we've achieved today is unbelievable. It's the best achievement I've ever been part of. India have been the team of the tournament, but you knew if you play your best cricket, you have a chance. Our bowlers were sensational and Travis put on one hell of a display. The way everything has happened is unbelievable. I'm lost for words. Two months ago, I wasn't even in the one-day team in South Africa,” Labuschagne said after winning World Cup 2023 title.
Labuschagne wasn't even in Australia's World Cup squad in the first place. He only made it to the squad after Ashton Agar was sidelined with injury.
With this win Australia have won the World Cup title six times (1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015 and 2023). Earlier, star pacer Mitchell Starc snared three wickets as Australia dismissed India for 240 in the World Cup final in front of nearly 130,000 fans in Ahmedabad. Australia’s Travis Head was declared the Player of the Match for his match-winning centurion knock.
