Uganda officially announced their 15-member squad for their maiden campaign in the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 which is set to be held in the West Indies and United States. Uganda have also named Mumbai-born all-rounder Alpesh Ramjani in their squad. He also holds the record for most T20I wickets in a single calendar year.
Three Indians, two Pakistanis in Uganda's squad
Alpesh Ramjani is just one of the three Indian-origin players in the Uganda squad. Ronak Patel and Dinesh Nakrani are the other two Indians on the list. Ramjani has even shared the field with Shivam Dube and Prithvi Shaw in prestigious inter-school tournaments like the Giles and Harris Shield. Dinesh Nakrani has also represented Saurashtra and Saurashtra U19s.
There are two Pakistan-origin players in their squad too. Riazat Ali Shah is one of them and will also be the vice-captain of the team. Bilal Hassun is the second name.
Brian Masaba will be leading the 15-member squad. This will be Uganda's maiden T20 World Cup campaign and would be hoping to put on a performance worth remembering. They are placed in Group C with West Indies, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan.
