England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced England's playing XI for the second One-Day International (ODI) against the West Indies on Saturday, May 31. Notably the second ODI between England and West Indies will be played on June 1 at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, Wales.
This comes after Harry Brook-led England registered a dominant 238-run win over West Indies in the first ODI.
A forced change has been made to England's playing XI due to an injury to star all-rounder Jamie Overton, who recently represented Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025. Overton has fractured his right little finger, ruling him out of not only the second ODI but also the remainder of the white-ball series against the West Indies. Pacer Matthew Potts will replace him for the second game.
The batting order for England will see Ben Duckett and Jamie Smith continue to open, with Joe Root batting at number three. Captain Harry Brook will take the number four spot, followed by former captain and wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler at number five. All-rounders Jacob Bethell, Will Jacks, and Brydon Carse are next in the lineup, while veteran leg-spinner Adil Rashid and Saqib Mahmood complete the playing XI.
"New England Men's white-ball captain Harry Brook has been forced into one change after Jamie Overton was ruled out of the remainder of the series with a broken right little finger. Matthew Potts has been selected to come in as his replacement and is set to make his 10th ODI appearance for England," ECB's statement read.

Their dominance extended to the bowling as well, as they bowled out the West Indies for just 162 runs, securing a towering 238-run victory to lead the three-match series 1-0
