BCCI makes massive changes to Indian squad for Zimbabwe, three World champions out days before series

BCCI has made three big changes in the Indian squad heading to Zimbabwe for a five-match T20I series. The selectors have added Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma, and Harshit Rana as replacements for T20 World Cup 2024 winners, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, and Yashasvi Jaiswal for the first two T20Is against Zimbabwe. These stars will first arrive in India and will be given proper rest before leaving for Harare. As departing for Zimbabwe right away would not be the right thing to do.

“Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma, and Harshit Rana added to India’s squad for first two T20Is. The Men’s Selection Committee has named Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma and Harshit Rana as replacements for Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, and Yashasvi Jaiswal for the first two T20Is against Zimbabwe,” wrote BCCI in their official statement.

"Originally slated to join the Zimbabwe-bound squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series starting Saturday, 6th July, the trio will travel to India first with the rest of the ICC T20 World Cup-winning Indian squad before departing for Harare," the statement further added.

Shivam Dube's addition to the squad

Recently, BCCI also added star all-rounder Shivam Dube to the squad as well as a replacement for injured Nitish Reddy. Nitish Reddy got his maiden International call-up following the initial announcement of the squad. However, his injury forced BCCI to exclude him from the squad. Dube, who was named his replacement will also be unavailable for the first two T20Is.
