Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged the Player of the Match for his stunning spell in India's win over Pakistan.

India pulled off a thrilling 6-run victory over Pakistan in their T20 World Cup match.

India emerged victorious by a narrow six-run margin in their second Group A match of the T20 World Cup 2024, defeating arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday, June 9.

Jasprit Bumrah's stellar bowling performance (3/14 in 4 overs) proved pivotal in defending India's modest total of 119 runs at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. This exceptional display earned him the Player of the Match award for the second consecutive game.

Following his impressive performance, Bumrah was interviewed by his wife, Sanjana Ganesan, who is part of the ICC's presenting team for the T20 World Cup. During the interaction, Bumrah expressed his confidence throughout the match despite India's low score and his satisfaction with his own bowling.

“For me, the greatest happiness is that whenever there is a problem or a puzzle, how do I solve it? What are my options? Rather than thinking too much in the end, or this is the opposition, I try to focus on how I can help the team and how I can solve this problem. So very happy that I could do it today, but there was nothing like that I was thinking of the opposition.”

Having already conquered New York with two wins in as many matches, India now gears up for their next challenge – a clash against the USA on June 12th. Reflecting on playing in New York conditions, Bumrah said:

“It felt really good. First of all, the ground is pretty big, so that’s one tick mark, and there’s some help, so I would never ever complain as a bowler because... always the games where there is a challenge between bat and ball are always a good sight to see and spectacle as well. So very happy and trying to take the momentum forward.”

Sanjana wrapped up the interview by congratulating Bumrah on India's second win and expressing her hope to see him again soon. Bumrah, from Ahmedabad, playfully responded with "Thank you, see you in 30 minutes."
