Indian Women's cricket team faced criticism in the last game despite winning against arch-rivals Pakistan. However, Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. made a roaring comeback against Sri Lanka in match 12 of the ongoing edition of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024. They defeated the Asia Cup Champions by a massive margin of 82 runs to keep themselves alive in the race for the semi-finals. This is their second consecutive win of the mega tournament.

India post 172/3 on board

India won the toss and chose to bat first. Indian openers made full use of batting first stitching an unbeaten 98-run partnership with Smriti Mandhana scoring her first half-century of this World Cup while Shafali Verma scored a stunning 43. India's skipper Harmanpreet did a great finish with India finishing their 20 overs with 172-3 on board. For Sri Lanka Chamari Athapaththu was the pick of bowlers taking 1 wicket along with Ama Kanchana who replaced Hasini Perara in the game.

Arundhati Reddy, Asha Sobhanam lead India bowling attack

Talking about Sri Lanka women's team, the team made a very bad start. The team had got the target of 173 runs. In response, Vishmi Gunaratne and captain Chamari Athapaththu came to the crease. But both were dismissed by Renuka Singh and Shreyanka Patil in the first two overs itself.

After this, Harshitha Samarawickrama and Kavisha Dilhari came to the pitch but Harshitha was out cheaply as Renuka dismissed her for 3 runs. Wicketkeeper batter Anushka Sanjeewani, along with Kavisha in the middle order, handled the innings to some extent but Arundhati Reddy and Asha Sobhana sent both of them to the pavilion.

In the end Ama Kanchana scored 18 runs. However, the target was very big and very few balls were left. In the end the team had to score 101 runs in 24 balls and 2 wickets were left. Kanchana lost her wicket to Arundhati. And the final work was done by Deepti Sharma when she took 1 wicket and all out the entire team for 90 runs. This is India's biggest win in the Women's T20 World Cup by the run margin.
