India all-rounder Sneh Rana feels that the side are well-prepared for their upcoming World Cup match against defending champions Australia. She pointed out that the team have studied Alyssa Healy & Co's style over the years and have already formed plans in order to counter them.
“As you said, the World Cup is a completely different stage, and the pressure is unique. We’ve studied Australia’s style over the years — they’re aggressive — but our plans are very clear. We’ve had detailed discussions and made our strategies, and hopefully, we can make a positive start,” Sneh said in the pre-match press-conference.
On the other hand, Sneh also addressed Indian batters' concerns with left-arm spinners especially during the ongoing World Cup. This comes after both Inoka Ranaweera and Nashra Sandhu had caused a lot of problems for the Women in Blue in their matches against Sri Lanka and Pakistan respectively. They also didn't look to be very comfortable when they came up against South Africa's Nonkululeko Mlaba and Chloe Tryon.
However, Sneh feels that there is nothing much to worry about and pointed out how the team includes of many world-class batters, who will bounce back strongly.
“I don’t think it’s a big concern. Our batters have handled such situations well in the past, and ups and downs are part and parcel of the game. As you know, we have some of the best batters in the world on our side, and I’m confident they’ll bounce back strongly,” Sneh stated.
India faced defeat in their previous match
Meanwhile, after recording victories in their opening two matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka respectively, India failed to keep their winning streak alive and suffered a three-wicket defeat to South Africa on Thursday. The Proteas went on to chase down the 252-run target with seven deliveries left to spare as the Indian bowlers weren't able to put in an impressive performance.
The Women in Blue will definitely be hoping to bounce back from the defeat, but it certainly won't be an easy task to do so against Australia. Notably, the Baggy Greens have come out on top in nine out their last 10 matches against Harmanpreet Kaur & Co. and will be hoping to maintain this winning form when they face them in the World Cup on October 12.
