Ravindra Jadeja broke his silence on being snubbed from India's squad for Australia ODIs

Jadeja will not be participating in Australia tour

Veteran India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has finally broken his silence on being snubbed from the upcoming Australia ODI series. Jadeja's name was expected to be present in the squad that was announced by India for the three-match one-day assignment as he has been an integral part of the set-up for months. However, instead of him, the Men in Blue decided to pick Axar Patel as the spin-bowling all-rounder for the series.

Jadeja feels that there must be a reason why the team management didn't pick him. He further revealed that he did have a chat with the management and coaches before the squad was picked and they had shared why they won't be picking him for the series.

"It is not in my hand. Selection. At the end of the day, The team management, coach, selector have some thinking. There must have been some reason why they did not pick me. They did speak with me and outlined what they are thinking. Whenever I get the next opportunity, I will try to perform. If I get a chance in the 2027 World Cup and perform well in the ODIs, it will be great. We missed out in 2023 ODI World Cup but we will try to do it in 2027," Jadeja said at the post-day press-conference.

When did Jadeja last play an ODI?

Jadeja's last appearance in the one-day format came in the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand. He was the one who hit the winning runs as the Men in Blue won their second ICC title in less than a year. It remains to be seen when the 36-year-old will be able to finally make his return to ODIs.

Jadeja dominates against West Indies

Meanwhile, Jadeja continued his stellar form in red-ball cricket during the second Test against West Indies. After taking home the Player of the Match award in the first Test for his brilliant all-round performance, Jadeja continued to trap the opposing batters with his fine bowling performance in the second match as well. He was India's top performer with the ball on Day 2, recording figures of 3/37. West Indies wrapped up the second day on 140/4 following India's declaration on 518/5 in their first innings.
