Former India coach Abhishek Nayar predicted that the batting great Virat Kohli would smash a century in the third ODI after getting dismissed on ducks in the first two ODIs against Australia.

Abhishek Nayar for Kohli's performance in 3rd ODI

Kohli was dismissed for a four-ball duck in India's two-wicket defeat in the second ODI against Australia at Adelaide Oval. During the series opener, he was unable to get off to the mark off the eight balls as India lost that clash by seven wickets.

Nayar, who helped Rohit in his transformation before the Australia series, noted that luck hasn't favoured Kohli so far, and the modern-day great could turn things around with a century in the third ODI.

"You always say you need the rub of the green. He has not had it yet. That doesn't mean he can't. There are two zeroes, all he has to do is add the one on the side. It will take a lot of grit and determination from him, but those are stories," said Abhishek Nayar on Star Sports.

"A Virat Kohli doesn't become a Virat Kohli without overcoming failures. He has done that in the past. He has struggled in England. He has gone back and conquered it. He has got one more game to conquer his demons, but if there is someone whom I would rely and bet on, that would be Virat," Nayar elaborated.

Nayar admitted that Kohli got out on a terrific delivery

"To be honest, regardless of seeing Virat getting out or not, I just feel this was a terrific delivery. I think most batters in the world, who have studied his bowling and understand him, wouldn't expect that delivery because even the way he released it, the seam position suggested the ball would leave him," he said.

Virat Kohli's ODI stats in Sydney

The third ODI between India and Australia is scheduled to take place at Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. However, Kohli didn't have a great outing at the venue as he scored 146 runs at the venue with an average of 24.33 in seven ODIs.
