Story Highlights:

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli formed a huge 168-run stand with Virat Kohli against Australia

India defeated Australia by 9 wickets in 3rd ODI

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were the stars of the show as India comprehensively defeated Australia by 9 wickets. While Rohit played a stellar knock of 121, Virat remained unbeaten on 74 as the Men in Blue chased down the 237-run target comfortably with 69 deliveries left. Their partnership of 168 runs was nothing short of superb and it ensured that the Men in Blue avoided a humiliating series whitewash.

Rohit's views on match-winning stand

Following the conclusion of the match, Rohit pointed out how he and Virat hadn't formed a partnership of over 100 runs for a long time and added that he thoroughly enjoyed batting alongside the latter.

“It was a fantastic partnership after a long, long time I think we haven’t had a 100-run partnership for a long time. It was good to get that partnership from the team’s perspective," Rohit said in a video posted by BCCI.

“Looking at how we were placed at one point, we had lost Gill early there. Not early perhaps, we managed to get off to a start and then he got out so obviously we knew with Shreyas not being there it was an added responsibility on other batters, and it was a great partnership. We enjoyed every moment we spent out there, there was a lot of chatter between the two of us," he added.

Rohit then reflected on the immense support that he and Virat have received coming into the series against Australia. The stadiums in Australia were jam-packed in all the three ODIs with loads of people coming to watch Rohit and Virat play cricket for arguably the final time in the country.

“Very very grateful to have people standing beside you and I’m pretty grateful to that, honestly whenever we have played people have come out and supported us, not just the two of us but the entire team and that was good to see," Rohit stated.

India to face South Africa in ODIs next

Meanwhile, Rohit and Virat are expected to feature in India's next ODI assignment that will be a three-match series against South Africa and will begin from November 30. This will be the Men in Blue's final one-day assignment of the year before they travel to New Zealand in January, 2026 for another three-match series in the format.
