Team India are currently involved in the pink-ball Test against Australia of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. A video featuring Shubman Gill is going viral on social media where the young India opener can be seen keeping a red handkerchief in his pocket while taking his batting stance.

Fans started reacting soon after watching the video of India's batter. However, that was an old video as you can easily see that he is batting alongside Cheteshwar Pujara. That was India's last tour of Australia.

After watching the video, fans started predicting that it is some sort of superstition followed by Gill. However, the India young batter earlier revealed that he picked a red handkerchief to keep it because he likes the colour and you can't carry a coloured piece of clothing in red-ball cricket.

"It's not a superstition. When I first started playing cricket we used to play with the red ball because in India you don't play white-ball cricket until a certain age group i.e the U-19s. So, when I first started playing with the white-ball that is when I started wearing the handkerchief on my trousers because you can't carry a coloured piece of clothing in red-ball cricket. I don't why I chose the red handkerchief but for some reason, I liked the colour so I started wearing it. And obviously, when you score runs and do well you tend to go with whatever you are doing at that moment. So that's one thing that kind of stuck with me and now I keep it with me all the time," Gill said on youtube.

Coming back to the upcoming match, Gill came to bat after KL Rahul got dismissed by Pat Cummins during the third over of India's innings. The young batter scored 28 runs before getting out by Mitchell Starc. After the end of Day 1, Team India are trailing by 29 runs. Rishabh Pant (28) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (15) are all set to start India's day 3 in Adelaide. Australia are having an upper hand in the ongoing clash.

Team India have already won the first Test match by 295 runs and now the Men in Blue will look to make a comeback in the second Test to take 2-0 lead in the five-Test match series. The ongoing series is important for India to seal their spot in the World Test Championship final which is scheduled to take place in England next year.
