'I have not batted well...': Rohit Sharma makes honest statement about his recent form

Indian captain Rohit Sharma makes an honest admission about his lean patch in Test cricket after scoring just 10 runs in third Test match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at Gabba. The India captain sacrificed his batting position for KL Rahul who is doing well as an opener. 

During the third Test match at Gabba when India were in a spot of bother and the team needed its skipper to deliver he fell short of expectations after losing his wicket to Australia captain Pat Cummins. Rohit's counterpart Pat Cummins forced out an edge to end the Indian skipper's stay on the crease for a score of 10(27).

"I have not batted well. No harm in accepting that. But I know what's in my mind, how I am preparing myself. It's about spending as much time as possible out there. As long as my mind, body, and my feet are moving well, I am pretty happy with how things are planning out for me. Those numbers can tell it's been a while since he has got big numbers, for a person like me, it's about how I am feeling about myself. I am feeling good about myself. Yes runs are not showing that but inside it is a different feeling," Rohit said in the post-match press conference.

 

Rohit just scored 19 runs in three outings of the five-Test match series. The Indian captain is struggling in the longest format of the game since the Bangladesh Test series.

During India's historic 3-0 home series whitewash against New Zealand, India's T20 World Cup-winning captain just scored  91 runs across three Test matches, averaging 15.17.

Before the Test series against Blackcaps, During the India vs Bangladesh series, Rohit scored just 42 runs in two Test matches. 

After Gabba Test ended as a draw, the five-Test match series is levelled at 1-1 and the Men in Blue will play their fourth Test match scheduled to start from December 26 at Melbourne Cricket Stadium in Melbourne.
